Love Letter Series: The New Gucci
I'm sorry that I never paid you much attention before. I just thought we didn't belong together, you know? You just seemed so...austere. But I see you've changed, and I really respect that about you. You're just doing you, which is really awesome. I love what you've done and I hope that we can spend some time together soon? Think about it?
Last year, relatively-unknown-to-most-of-the-world Alessandro Michele took the helm of Gucci and debuted his first collection there. He flipped the iconic Italian brand on its head (in the best way possible). What had been understated, mature, and utterly sophisticated (and if you ask me, somewhat uneventful) is now bursting at the seams with whimsey and a newfound zest for life.
It's been said that a woman's chemical reaction to a beautiful piece of clothing elicits the same response as when she falls in love. I bet you know the feeling. Your eyes fall upon the coveted style and something--you can't quite put your finger on it--feels right, urgent, lustful. Excitement rushes up from your gut and spills from your lips, "I have to have it."
Alessandro Michele and the new Gucci have done this for me.
Almost each piece from his short tenure thus far has me heart sick and daydreaming. This is the stuff that true, unrequited love is made of. Here are some of my favorite looks on site.

From February 1–14, I'll be posting love letters to the things I've been obsessing over lately. From sweets to slip-ons, these are the showstoppers that are picking up my pulse this winter.
