5 Off-The-Registry, Bride-Approved Wedding Gifts

To be clear, I always shop from the registry. They exist for a reason. However, sometimes I want to get the wedded couple a little something extra--an engagement gift or a day-of surprise. Having been both the giver and the gifted, here are a few bride-approved presents worthy of registry derailment.

This is one of my go-to gifts for the couple. (You can also get HIS/HIS and HERS/HERS.) This hand-engraved set is a beautiful addition to the bar and won't break the bank, either.

Brass Inlay Marble Platter

This gorgeous platter from Leif Shop can be used from the kitchen to the living room, and is a gorgeous way to say "congrats on sharing a home together!"

Dinner On You

This may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you're gifting the newly engaged, but I'm a big fan of unexpected gifts. Chances are, your friends are working full-time jobs while planning their wedding. It is stressful and chaotic to plan a whole damn wedding while balancing an already jam-packed work life and social agenda. Give your friends the gift of alone time and a delicious dinner with a gift card to one of their favorite local restaurants. This way, they'll be encouraged to take a T.O. from their busy agendas and steal a few hours to themselves to talk wedding--or not. Either way, they'll be grateful.

Rifle Paper Co. Planner

Scheduling is about to become a beast for the bride-and-groom to be. A good planner like this one (or this one) is a great "happy" for the soon-to-be-inundated couple.

Kate Spade Thank You Cards

While we're on the topic of stationary and such... The couple is about to be writing a ton of Thank You cards. Someone gave us TY cards as a wedding gift and we found that this was a really useful and welcome present, since we were spent a lot of time shelling out "thank you's" over several months.
