Love Letter Series: Scotcha!
Dear Talisker Single Malt Scotch,
Remember that time we drank all of you? That was so fun. I've always liked scotch, but I'm really more of a bourbon/whiskey kind of girl. On this particular day, though, it was so cold, and we were so cozy, and you were so easy. One scotch on the rocks led to another and another and then you were gone. I still look back on that day with great fondness. I know we'll be together again, probably next time I visit the liquor store, but until then, know that you've kept my memories warm.
True Story: One Saturday last winter, my girlfriends and I set up shop at a friend's place in Chinatown. It was meant to be a recharge--a quick warming of the bones--but it turned into an 8-hour veg fest with a full bottle of Talisker. Eight full hours of me on the couch and my friend in a cozy chair, both of us covered in blankets, both of us drinking Talisker rocks/neat, both of us as content as ever.
Bulleit bourbon is my default (though I don't turn away much of the sort) but I'd never been much of a scotch drinker 'til that fateful day. And now, it's one of my go-to's on a cold wintery night.
From February 1–14, I'll be posting love letters to the things I've been obsessing over lately. From sweets to slip-ons, these are the showstoppers that are quickening my pulse this winter.
