5 Dark Spot Treatments To Fix Your Sunshine Sins
I am the worst about spending too much time in the sun. As soon as I get beneath its mighty glow, it's like I'm a solar panel that can only be sustained in daylight. While I wear sunscreen--a minimum of SPF 15 on my legs/whole body, and double up with SPF 30 on my shoulders, chest, and face--it's probably illegal to enjoy being under the influence of UVAs & UVBs the way I do.
I was careless when I was younger (as one is), and now I'm paying for it. Thankfully the Gods of Beauty Forgiveness created dark-spot correctors to help idiots like me reverse the appearance of the sun damage I accumulated over time.
While dark spot treatments won't officially get rid of your age and sun spots, they can diminish the appearance of them as long as you are using said treatment. Full disclosure--I cheat and get my dark spots lasered off. Instead of concealing them, the laser zaps the sun damage, bringing it the surface of the skin where it will shrivel up and die. (It just flakes off after a week.)
However, I don't like to rely on technology to fix my problems (well, sometimes--praise Google Maps), so below are five dark-spot fixer uppers that will keep skin glowing after the sun has gone down.
Given my sun-spot track record, I'm a big fan of the entire Essential-C collection, especially the Essential-C Day Moisture with SPF 30, which absorbs quickly and I don't have to worry about applying additional sunscreen. (Side note: My daily foundation also contains SPF 50.) The Lightening Serum, however, contains 2% hydroquinone to diminish the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Banish dark spots while you dream with this lightweight night cream that uses wild rose and Vitamin C to target dark spots, while soothing rose water helps hydrate skin.
For faster topical results, apply, this high-octane brightener uses 15% concentration of Vitamin C. Apply at night and start seeing results in about one week.
Using salicylic, ellagic, and hydroxyphenoxy propionic acids, this treatment exfoliates dull skin from the surface while gradually lightening to improve luminosity and texture. It's paraben-, fragrance-, and dye-free.
Switch things up with an ingredient-packed mask at night. Including formula elements such as TEAOXI® technology to improve skin tone, WhiteEnergy™ for bright, even results, Flashlucent™ to exfoliate for a brighter complexion, and Reflectrum™ to increase the reflecting level of the skin, this mask could be added to your daily routine to up routine radiance.
